We’ve written before about the signs of pool leaks in Sarasota, what causes them, and why it’s important to fix leaky pools ASAP.
Today we wanted to dive a little deeper into what kinds of detection tools a professional leak repair company uses. After all, some pool owners may want to wait until they’re positive that they have a leak before calling in the pros. But our high-tech equipment is way more sensitive than just human observation!
With this kind of advanced leak detection equipment, we can find the leaks well before you even know you have one! And that allows us to pinpoint their location, and fix pool leaks in Sarasota well before they become serious problems.
Expert Training
Oftentimes, hiring an expert means you benefit from the simplest solutions to maximize the health of your pool without breaking the bank. Under-trained pool “pros” may suggest extreme solutions to simple problems, like starting a bonfire to light a candle.
But our CPO Sarasota pool technicians undergo extensive and regular training on all aspects of pool care—and not just any pools, but Sarasota-Bradenton pools and their unique setups and environments.
With Bella Pool & Spa, Sarasota pool pros bring that expertise and experience to your property, along with a full collection of tools and techniques. This ensures that your pool is fixed in the most effective—and efficient—way possible.
Electronic Leak Detection Devices
Another key to leak detection and repair is locating the precise location of the leak. It does no good to know that the pool is leaking when you can’t tell where the leak is. Even worse, without a thorough detection service, you might pay to have one leak repaired while another, undetected one rages on and gets worse.
There are a variety of high-tech devices that allow us to pinpoint leaks within a pool. One involves sound, in which state-of-the-art, underwater microphones allow us to listen for even the slightest sound of water flowing in what should be a still pool. (You may have experienced similar devices used by plumbing leak detectors searching for pipe leaks in a building.)
For vinyl liner pools, an electronic detection device uses the basic properties of electricity as conducted through water. Essentially, electricity flows easily through water, and it wants to find the fastest way to the ground. Because the sides of pools do not allow electricity to connect to the ground, the fastest path will be through a leak.
Pressure Testing Equipment
Of course, pools can leak from more than just the pool itself. Leaks also commonly hide in your pool’s plumbing. In order to pinpoint leaky pipes or joins, we use pressure testing equipment to determine if the plumbing is able to maintain a consistent pressure, or if a totally closed-off system nevertheless loses pressure. Any loss of pressure indicates that water is escaping the system.
This is a great and straightforward technique to ensure that all of your pool’s leaky spots are found, not just the visible ones.
Underwater Cameras
That being said, sometimes there’s nothing quite as satisfying as visual confirmation. Underwater cameras, especially when paired with pressure testing, let us look inside a leaky system and search for signs of a leak from the inside out. It’s like an endoscopy for your pool!
After deploying the appropriate devices and techniques, if we confirm that you don’t have any pool leaks—hooray!—we can still help you implement preventative maintenance programs that will preserve your pool and its leak-free status for as long as possible! And that’s relaxing news indeed.
